The DV Caddie is the flagship of the line. It is multipurpose, compact and durable. It provides a steadier platform to shoot from and relief from the fatigue of extensive handheld shooting. Complete with locking pan, tilt and "float", it's ergonomically designed to be able to move freely with your arm and wrist.

Supporting digital video, literally

Worn in the conventional manner, with the strap over your left shoulder, the Caddie redistributes the weight of the camera across your body more evenly. The adjustable strap lets you find the camera height that is right for you.

The Caddie is compact and lightweight for easy travel. It’s constructed primarily of aluminum and weighs less than a pound and a half. It has a padded base to insure comfort at the point it contacts your body.
Separate locks on the pan (1), tilt (2) and “float” (3) allow you to lock off one or all of these functions independently. Unlocked, the pan and tilt allow unrestricted movement while the unique "float" function keeps the camera parallel to the ground. Lock off any or all of these functions and it provides steadier handheld shots without the use of a tripod.

Go strapless

Don’t feel obligated to wear your Caddie using the strap all the time. That’s just one of the many ways to use it. It works great as a shoulder rest, simply flip up the parallelogram and rest the base on your right shoulder. The added point of contact gives you a stable shot.
Rest it vertically on your shoulder and shoot above crowds without arm fatigue. Lock off all the functions with the camera lens pointed in line with the bars of the parallelogram, now lift it onto your shoulder with the padded base sitting perpendicular to your collarbone.
Try some low angle shots. Since all the weight is located at the bottom, the Caddie works well for tracking shots in this configuration. Yes, the footage is upside down, but easy enough to correct on most editing systems. Your camera probably has a feature that flips the image over in the viewfinder so that you see it right side up as you shoot.
While it’s off your shoulder, lock it off and use it as a handle for hip high shots. The extra leverage allows you to get smooth shots even while you’re in motion. You can also set in on the ground in this configuration for dramatic low angle shots.
Strap free you can rest it against your body, a table top, a ledge or just about anything handy for more solid shots. The Caddie is designed to be a multipurpose tool and we encourage you to find new and creative ways to use it.

Adapt and thrive

Our goal is to design in as much versatility as possible into our products, but sometimes you want more than just the basics. Therefore, the Caddie can be combined with the DV Caddie Shoulder Rest for additional stability or you can attach a DV Caddie Adapter Plate and use it with larger cameras that already have a built in shoulder rest.
Although the Caddie will work as is with other manufacture’s equipment, including most quick release adapters, there are situation when the anti-rotation pin is a hindrance. All Caddie products now come with removable anti-rotation pins to assure that they will work with all the cameras and accessories now available on the market.
